Laurence, in a heartbeat. It's a beautiful and classic name, as opposed to Humphrey, which is elderly and comical.

Laurence. I've never minded the name, it's quite handsome. Tbh I actually don't mind Humphrey either. I used to dislike it, but it's got a certain old school, vintage vibe that I really like. The meaning of Humphrey is nice too. I'd still choose Laurence though.

Laurence? Humphrey, Bogey or no Bogey, really looks dowdy and dated.

Laurence is my favorite, I recently started liking this name. I think the nn Laurie is cute for a boy, it is very unisex and it reminds me of Hugh Laurie and one of my favorite science teachers in high school. Humphrey is an odd name but I kind of like it, reminds me of the actor Humphrey Bogart but on its own Humphrey sounds like the name you'd give an elephant.

Oh, I adore both! I currently prefer Humphrey because it's more unusual. They're both favorites.

Humphrey would be good for a camel, as in the Just So Stories. On a human, it screams NERD. Although the only Humphrey I ever knew went to the Antarctic with a South African scientific team for, I think, a year ...Laurence is tricky. I prefer the spelling to Lawrence, but then I keep hearing it in French. And a French friend of mine, when she found out she couldn't have children, tried to cheer herself up by saying that she'd always wanted to name a daughter Laurence but since she was, then, living in England with her English husband, this would not have been practical at all. And Laura and Laure weren't nearly as good!IRL I'd use Lawrance, which was the ln of DH's only aunt; she and her husband were very special people indeed and were also childless, so ...

LaurenceDefinitely Laurence. I actually don't mind it, although I do prefer the spelling of Lawrence more.Humphrey is an absolutely dated and AWKWARD name that I wouldn't wish on anyone. It's likely to lead to some grief, unlike 'Laurence/Lawrence' where most people wouldn't even bat an eye.

Laurence, because at least then he could be Larry.
Humphrey? Jesus. I don't care how handsome and seriously-taken Bogart was, he was given a ridiculous, comical name.

Laurence —it’s elegant and classic (although it could sound a little nerdy)Humphrey sounds like the name of a hamster. Or like Humpty Dumpty.
