Ariane
Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm new here. My name is Sarah. Hi. :)
The topic at hand: my grandmother's name is Ariane. I think it would be nice to name my daughter after her (someday). However, my ex-best friend/girlfriend/first love's name is Ariana. Does anyone have suggestions of related names that aren't too similar?
Thanks!

Hello Sarah, I'm Mashka. :) It's nice to see you here.
I like Array's suggestion of Ariadne. It's a gorgeous name that incorporates the letters of your grandmother's name but at the same time, is pronounced quite different than Ariana.
There's also Ariela (female form of the Hebrew male name Ariel) which is close to Ariane, but not too close.

Welcome to our group Sarah!
Ariane is simply scrumptious and absolutely lovely!
The first thing that comes to mind if adding an M on the begining and making the name Mariane (or Marianne), what to you think?
There is also Adriane (Adrienne), Ariadne, or what about something like Cariane / Kariane (Carrie / Karrie + Anne) or Dariane (Darienne, which I have seen used for a little girl before)?
Or if you liked your name you could make it Sariane (like Sari + Anne).
The only other suggestion I have would be to use Ariane as the middle name, or just ignore the fact of the name being that close to Ariana and use it anyway. Also this site says the name can be pronounced like er-ee-AN (which is close to Ariana) or like a-ree-AN which is a bit different so you could use that pronounciation instead if you wanted to.
I hope my suggestions helped a bit! :)

Marianne is a very interesting possibility, since there's also an "M" tradition in my family, and Adriane/Adrienne is very pretty. :)
Thank so much!
Thank so much!
Hi, Sarah! I'm Amy Rae. Nice to meet you. :)
Ariane is really beautiful--it's too bad that you'd associate it with an X. :( How about Ariadne? That's your grandmother's name with only one extra letter, but it sounds very different from Ariana.
If that's still too close for you, say so and I'll come up with others, but until then, that's what I'd advocate most strongly.

You might even provide a Heaven for them. We need You for that. Hell we can make for ourselves.
