Lydia? (+ a couple of questions)
I've always loved this name, but a few things stand in the way of me using it.
- My DD's middle name is Olivia, I think they sound very similar.
- There are already two Lydia/Lidia's at my church.
- Dh has an aunt named Lidia.
Would you still consider using it if you were in my shoes?
Also, Do you prefer, Liliana, Lydia or Leah? (I love L names, but I can only pick one of them)
which sounds best with older sister Isabel?
Thanks ladies. :)

I love Lydia, and since Olivia is your dd's mn, I wouldn't worry about them being too similar. I definitely prefer it to Liliana and Leah (which are both lovely, but Lydia is far better imo), and I love the sound of Isabel & Lydia as sisters. :) If it's popular in your area, you might want to reconsider if you're concerned about popularity. If not, I don't think it'll be number 1 on the charts anytime soon, but it could be getting more popular, for sure. Also, if your dh isn't very close to his aunt, or if you want to honor her, either way, I think using Lydia is fine. I prefer it to Lidia, which while nice has the word "lid" spelled out in it, which bothers me. LOL.

The only issue there that concerns me is the aunt. I don't know what the attitudes are about names in your family, or how close you are to that particular relative, so I can't say whether it's a problem. I would never consider giving one of my children the same name as a (living) aunt or uncle, but possibly the dynamics in your family are such that it is reasonable. The other posters generally seem to think it's okay, so maybe my family is unusual in that aspect.
I think Lydia sounds the best with Isabel, but all three names sound very nice.

I would still use Lydia based on that. I don't think that Olivia sounds similar.
A tough choice between those three names, they all suit you. Leah is not really my style, but it's very nice, I slightly prefer the spelling Lea though.
I love both Lydia and Liliana and find it hard to choose between them, however, I think that Lydia sounds best with Isabel : )

Lydia is a great classic name
Firstly, I don't see the problem that your dd's mn is Olivia. If her fn was Olivia, I would think it too close (Livvie and Lyddie). As it is, I would not even hesitate naming my second dd Livia (which is a formal name, not a short form of Olivia).
- The church thing I don't quite understand. Would your Lydia go in the same class with the other Lydia and Lidia? Would they be friends? Or would they only meet in church? Also, I don't know how much time you spend in church actitivities.
- Why would the aunt be a problem? Are you afraid that she will think you named your dd after her? If so, is that really so terrible? If you know her well, you can explain that you just love her name. And you can tell both grandmothers this too, so that they don't feel slighted.
I find Liliana, Lydia and Leah all beatuful but I love Lydia best. And they all sound great with Isabel.
Maybe Isabel and Liliana look best together, since both are Spanish. But Lidia is also Spanish. Leah is a little short compared with Isabel. Isabel can have many nn (Isa, Izzy, Bel, Bella) and her sister might want one too.

Of those 3 things, only the Olivia / Lydia thing bothers me. They're very close to rhyming, and too close imo, even though Olivia is a middle name and not used every day.
Although there are 2 Lydia's at your church, it's not too popular in general, and the chances are your daughter will move around in her lifetime, as will those other Lydia's. That shouldn't be a reason not to use the name.
As for your husband's aunt ... that depends. It's not a very unusual name; I doubt she'd think it was definitely in her honour, if that's the problem. Unless you dislike her, it shouldn't be an issue. Or are you worried about confusion in the family? That'd depend how much you see of her.
I do think Lydia sounds best with Isabel.

I prefer Leah of those three, but Lydia feels more similar to Isabel to me.
If I liked Lydia a great deal and those three things were all true of me, I would still definitely consider using it. I don't think any of those should be a great barrier--if you really like the name, so be it.

Yes, I would use it.
I don't think Olivia sounds all that similar and it is only your daughter's mn.
Though there are 2 in your church, it's still not in the top 100 and hasn't been so it's not extremely common.
Your husband's aunt having the same name would just be a happy coincidence. No reason for concern.
Lydia is the best out of the three. It's strong and classic. Liliana is a bit frilly and Leah is just sort of boring.
