It's interesting that Margie is the standard nn for you. I've known two Margarets with this pronunciation of the nn. One was Margi and the other Margy. This nn is unusual in the US, I think.Margie wth a soft G as in gin was used a lot in the US in past generations.

I live in the deep south in the US, and I know Margarets, who go by Maggie, Meg, and Margie.
