Astrid
What do you think of the name Astrid? I know that is one of my husband's favorite girl's names, as well my sister without me bringing up the name mentioned loving it the other day. I used to not care for it but it's been growing on me a lot. I'm curious what other people's opinion of the name is and what impressions you have of it or the kind of people who would name their kids it?Also what do you think of the combo Astrid Marguerite? I'm liking it but I want other people's thoughts.
Marguerite is a family name for my husband and it could honor my side of the family since it is a Mar- name plus it's been a favorite name of mine for a long time.

I love it and think it sounds great with Marguerite. As another commenter mentioned, even if it doesn't mean "star," it seems like it could. I like that it doesn't have a typical feminine ending. The only drawback - since nobody has said it yet - is that the first syllable is "ass." That wouldn't stop me from using it, though.

I actually really like Astrid, though I wouldn't use it myself. I'd love to meet a baby or little girl with this name though. Astrid Marguerite is so elegant and feminine and would age well. A really pretty combo.

It's nothing wrong with the name, it's just not one of my personal favorites. It's pretty popular here though, so are Ingrid and Sigrid. I have very fond childhood memories of Astrid Lindgren and the worlds she created, so I have a soft spot for Astrid because of that. Astrid Marguerite is fine sound wise.

I go back and forth on Astrid. I can see the appeal, but I'm just not 100% on board. The ending seems a bit abrupt. Astrid Marguerite is a lovely combo though.

Astrid is a wonderful name that sounds strong, refined and has a nice meaning. The astr- part reminds me of the Latin word for star, astra, though I know they're not related. Astrid Marguerite is okay, but not my cup of tea. If it's a family name, go for it.

I like Astrid very much; lovely meaning too, and though it doesn't actually mean Star, it looks as if it could!Of the three -rid names most encountered, I'd place Astrid a close second to Sigrid and way ahead of Ingrid.Astrid Marguerite is very stylish; unexpected in a good way.

I like it. I think it's become more common recently, so my impression of a person who'd name their kid Astrid has gone from "really cool and probably Scandanavian" to "probably still cool, but maybe just an average hipster-adjacent person who likes things like How To Train Your Dragon and viking movies and other pop culture stuff".
Astrid Marguerite isn't bad, but it doesn't quite work for me. I think Marguerite is very warm, like red-orange-yellow-summer-cozy warm, and Astrid is cool and blue-grey-wintery and kind of hard and smooth like a rock. (I always explain names in a way that makes it sound like I have synesthesia but hopefully those things make sense :P) If I saw this combo in the wild I'd still be happy about it though! What about Astride Marguerite? Too rhymey maybe. Or maybe Astrid Margalit, Astrid Margarit, Astrid Margareta, Astrid Margarid, Astrid Margot, Astrid Margaux? (none of those are probably good enough to be contenders if Marguerite is a big favorite, but they could still honor the famiy name)
