Georgie

Thank you for all your thoughts!
I absolutely love Georgina - it's my daughter's middle name and may have been her first if there hadn't been a George born into the family a few months before she was! I would have called her Georgie too.
I think it's slightly better to use Georgina rather than Georgie as there's more nickname potential for her to choose from when she's older. But no reason not to go with Georgie if you don't like Georgina. I know lots of children with nicknames as given names, it's not really unusual these days.

I like Georgie, but I think that it's important to consider how she will want to introduce herself so I would name her Georgia. I dislike Georgina because it sounds a bit old fashioned, which is also why I prefer Georgia.
If Georgia is too mainstream, (even though IMO I think the NN Georgie makes it more original) here are some variants apart from Georgina:
Georgeann
Georgeanna
Georgeannah
Georgeanne
Georgena
Georget
Georgett
Georgetta
Georgette
Georgiana
Georgianah
Georgiann
Georgianna
Georgiannah
Georgianne
Georgine
Georgya
Giorgi
Giorgia
Jorja

I think it's gross. It's babyish and in-your-face, self-conscious tomboyish. I think it's babyish and gross even for a boy, even if his full name is George.
I'd use Georgina and try to use the nn Gina and bypass the whole dumb Georgie nn altogether.

I love it, but ONLY as a nickname. She’ll be spending a lot more time as an adult than as a child. I like the name Georgia as a longer version.
I really LOVE Georgie on a girl.
It's been a long time favourite nickname of mine for the full-name Georgina (which ranks #201 in England). Recently however I've been liking Georgie more and more, when I added it to my long list I found out it currently ranks higher than Georgina at #190 in England! Neither name ranks in the Top 1000 in the USA.
If I was pushed to make a ddecision however, I would probably put Georgina on the birth certificate and use Georgie often.

I don't like it at all. It's much too nickname-y and sounds masculine anyway. I wouldn't recommend using it for for an actual name for either gender, especially for a girl. However if it absolutely HAD to be used...a fuller version to back up it would make it at least somewhat more tollerable. So yes, Georgina with the NICKNAME of Georgie. I just think Georgina is such a lovely name anyway. It surpasses 'Georgie' in my book, full name or not.
Georgie works for a toddler. I would hate to introduce myself as Georgie as a twenty year old - it's so sickly sweet.
Georgia or Georgina is a thousand times better.
