Love it! I know a lot of people think Bessie is a cow name, but I just find that so stereotypical and silly.

cowas a couple others have mentioned. But yeah, that's my first thought: cow. Not a fan. There are so many alternatives with Elizabeth nicknames, I don't know why you'd ever go with this one.

I far prefer Bess, which sounds more adult. And also more human - Bessie is rather bovine.

I don't really like most short forms of Elizabeth, but I must say that Bessie is one of my least favourite ones. For some reason, I can only see it on a cow.

I'm not a huge fan, but when Ellie is the most popular nickname for girls under the age of 5, I can understand the appeal.
I prefer Bess--less cow-y.
