Like Ella, I find it rather flimsy and lacking in stature. My top Em- choice has always been Emily, and its recent popularity hasn't changed that.
A former colleague, trying to start a family, said that she would name a possible daughter Emma, which - she said - was "a silly little name" and smiled affectionately! I've no idea if she ever did - she emigrated to Australia with her husband and two sons, and we lost touch.
