Archer is both a lnfn and somewhat - medievally - militaristic, so I'd avoid it without a backward glance.I would expect anyone called Archie to have Archibald as his full name. Not a name I enjoy; the bald bit puts me right off. But Archie is pleasant.

I agree that occupation names and last names are overdone, but as occupations names go, archers at least have lots of positive representation. *I'm kind of joking here, so don't be offended.*

In works of fiction, I've got nothing against invasions of alien spacecraft ... in real life, however ..;)
