I cannot get enough of this gorgouse and classic name. This is the name that I would have used for a potential daughter without a second thought but unfortunately, that now seems very unlikely as I firmly believe that "Sylvia" (my niece) & Lydia would be too matchy for direct cousins ); Grrr
I am planning on adopting a pair of cats within the next couple of months and one of the names will absolutely be Lydia. So in a way, I still get to use the name even though it wasn't my original intent.I'm very fond of this name, including the adorable nickname of 'Lydie' ♥

While Lydia and Sylvia both have three syllables and end with -ia, the same could be said of Sophia, Olivia, etc... While they might feel to themey on sisters, they aren’t copies of one another and wouldn’t be a problem on cousins.

I don’t at all think Sylvia and Lydia are too matchy for cousins! They’re different and lovely together. Even if they were siblings it would be fine. Matchy is Lyra and Lyla, or Luna and Lula.Frankly, I think cousins can even share a name. Maybe unless they live together.

Yeah, matchy would be like Sylvia and Sylvie or something like that.

Everyone seems to say the same thing to me. They also think the names aren't too matchy. My mind just goes in the opposite direction and I wouldn't want to seem that I was "copying" a bit.
I've definitely thought about using it as a possible middle name but...much easier said than done. I think that ship has pretty much sailed.
