Ilana
I like this name a lot since meeting a woman from Israel with this name. I love its meaning too. In Israel this seems to be a bit old fashioned (popular for women born in the 60s and 70s) but I like it :)Do you think Ilana (ee-LAH-na) is distinctive enough? Do you like it? I fear a bit it will not stand out among the girls named Eliana, Elena, Lana, Alana etc.

I personally don't find it distinctive. There are other Hebrew names I like way better. This just feels stale.

I like it. It reminds me of names like Elana and Ilona.

I've had nothing but good luck with Ilana people, and I like it a lot. I'd never use it, to avoid confusion because I'm not Jewish, but I'd rather use it or have it in preference to 'Eliana, Elena, Lana, Alana etc'!

It does seem mature to me (I picture an Ilana being in her 40s), but it's not dated where I live. It reminds me of Alana and Irena, both of which I like.I get a different vibe from Ilana than I do from Eliana or Lana, but I'd still say it blends in more than it stands out (not necessarily a bad thing). Ilana comes across as more substantial and elegant than the other two, maybe partly because of the mature vibe.
