Re: BTN's Favorite Names 2018
in reply to a message by Rachel Shaina
Maybe it's because I heard the name Alex SO MUCH growing up (on boys and girls), but Alexander, for me, is played out. I might've considered it as a middle name once or twice, but otherwise... I guess I'm alone on BtN in thinking this, though, since it just set a record for votes.
I didn't used to like Violet - thought it was one letter away from "violent." Much preferred Viola (still like it). But Violet has grown on me.
So glad my girl Josephine is getting love here! She was most popular during WWI, though currently she's just below the Top 100 in the United States. I'd like to see more little Josephines.
Other names on the list I really like:
Julia
Adelaide
Veronica
Iris
Lydia
Rose
Maude (this was surprising to see!)
Willow
Winifred (can't believe I used to prefer the double-N spelling, it's way too busy)
Cordelia
Juliet (Top 10)
Aurelia (Top 10)
Clara
Maeve
Genevieve
Jane (Top 10)
Rosalie
Sylvie
Zoe
Cressida
Lilia
Vesper (ultimate GP!)
Xanthe
Elise
Eloise
Miranda (Top 10)
Miriam
&
Arthur
Sebastian
Oscar (if it weren't for the award ceremony...)
Thomas
William
Gabriel
Isaac (Top 10)
James
Adrian
Nicholas
Nikolai
Elijah
Ezra
Nathaniel (Top 10)
Rowan
Dominic (Top 10***)
Julian
Malcolm (Top 10***)
Jonas
Luke
Wesley (Top 10)
Ozias
Benedict
Everett
Francis
Ronan
Spencer
*** These are the two names most consistently in my Top 10. I'm pretty sure 12 votes for each of them were mine.
