I like Sylvia. I like almost all Sylv-/Silv- names.
I wouldn't let one tragedy keep me from using it.
If that were the ONLY tie to the name, maybe I would, but Sylvia has many other associations so I'd never let that one keep me from naming my own child that if I really wanted to.
