Mary ?
A simple question: which middle name(s) would you match with the first name Mary? Please make only one combo and post it in the subject line.

I'm pretty sure I've answered this question with Mary Gertrude and Mary Ludovica before. This time, my first thought was Mary Rodmila; other options considered were Severina and Clotilde.
Apparently I prefer it with names that I perceive as somewhat forbidding and Catholic...I guess otherwise Mary tends to sound too bubbly and approachable for me, or maybe like she'd be a pushover. I don't dislike the name, though.

This was tricky! I like Mary, it's my middle name and I will 100% pass it on if I ever have a daughter.
From the previous posters, I love Mary Adelaide and Mary Alexandra.
Mary Zelda is fun too!
I toyed with Mary Alexandretta, Mary Octavia, Mary Eleanore and Mary Melody but in the end plumped with Mary Juliet because I like the flow and adore the nickname "MJ"

Mary Jasmine 'MJ' was my second choice! Mary Juliet is cute.

I’d probably use a second middle, but I haven’t thought that far. I’m slightly obsessed with this combo at the moment.

Mary Roxanna Philomena
I'd defintely avoid a religious sounding single MN, bc then she'd sound like a nun from birth ie Mary Grace, just begs to add 'sister' in from of it. I'd pair it with 2 MNs and at least one of them strong sounding and at least one of them a bit longer. Nothing bland or too common either.
roxANNA would be after Anna (husband's mother)
PHILomena would be after Philippus (my father)
All this is assuming I wouldn't want to call her by both her FN and MN all the time, bc then she'd be Mary Fay.
And assuming I wouldn't have my daughter yet, bc she already has the MNs Roxanna Philippa :)

Because a bland and common name like Mary needs an unusual middle name that starts with a consonant (I don't like it when a middle name starts with a vowel when the first name ends in a vowel).
