Minerva
Sorta trying to branch out a bit with my girls names.. since we literally only like two or three names.Minerva has always floated around my list a bit, but now i'm wondering if I should consider it further. I think Theodora & Minerva sound nice as siblings. I like Min/Minnie as a nickname. Possible combo would be: Minerva Winifred _____? (Surname)
Still trying to come up with 2nd middle names..What do you think of Minerva?

ThanksI'm really liking Minerva.. but husband told me today that he detests it... grr.Back to the drawing board! Only three more days until we actually find out what we are having, so I might not have to worry about girls names!

I love the nn Minnie, I love the connection to the goddess and I love the Harry Potter character. It also fits well with Theodora. For me personally, though, it’s hard to get past the “nerve” sound. In my mind I picture pain and firing synapses and nails down a blackboard.

I like Minerva! When I named baby bunnies six years ago, one of them ended up being named Minerva (Harry Potter theme). She was always called that, but I like Mina or Minnie as nicknames. And I think it sounds perfect with Theodora.

Minerva is my favourite girl's name - the only thing that would put me off using it is the likelihood of people shortening it to Minnie, which I find really twee. I don't think it goes well with Winifred though, or at least not consecutively with the repetition of the first syllable.

I see a Minerva almost daily (co-worker) so I think of her when I hear it. It's a nice name: rare, familiar, versatile, interesting meaning, has sounds I like in it. The 'nerv' stands out to me, but I don't mind that about it; it's nervy, or gives it a bit of an edge. I slightly prefer Minerve but that's not a popular opinion. I don't really like it with Winifred. The similarity of the beginnings (Min/Win) bugs me.Minerva Winifred Iris
Minerva Winifred Sally
Minerva Winifred Constance
Minerva Winifred Sybil
Minerva Winifred Cordelia
Minerva Winifred Florence
Minerva Winifred Nancy
Minerva Winifred Marjorie
Minerva Winifred Mabel
Minerva Winifred Margot
Minerva Winifred Cecily
Minerva Winifred Ramona

Minerva is a cool name. I've met real women with this as their name, and it didn't sound "bizarre" in the real world (which can happen with mythological names). Min is good, though Minnie just makes me think of mice.

I'm instantly reminded of Professor McGonagall (good association) and of the word nerve (not so good of an association), which kind of makes the name look like "my nerve!" Because of the latter, I would personally prefer to put the name in the middle name slot. But as far as names go, Minerva isn't bad at all, especially when you look at all the atrocities out there today. So if you like the name, definitely go for it! :)Some middle name suggestions for Minerva as a first name:Minerva Ambrosia
Minerva Apollonia
Minerva Auxiliatrix (see https://www.behindthename.com/name/auxiliatrix/submitted)
Minerva Beatrice
Minerva Evangeline
Minerva Florentina (or Florentine)
Minerva Marigold
Minerva Minadora (if you're into a bit of alliteration - also, see https://www.behindthename.com/name/minadora/submitted)
Minerva Philomena
Minerva Salvatrix
