maybe as an honoring name. it definitely isn't much worse than a few certain trendy names nowadays. and i don't believe the drink is even so popular nowadays (not that i'd really know). but it's still a drink. which sucks, because the sound is nice and it does have legitimate etymology besides that (even if the spelling was likely influenced by the drink..and/or the French word for "darling", which isn't worlds better). plenty of Sherrys have been able to make it just fine with their name though, so the word is more of an annoyance than an actual barrier to being taken seriously or whatever.btw, i knew a Sherry from Brandywine. lol--------https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/180731/115070 my pnl
