Fern is really unique in that it's the only name I can think of where the stressed (sole) vowel is a schwa. (Even Pearl sounds a little... stronger.) However, with that said, it still doesn't fade in the background. It's easy to spell, and you don't forget when you've met a Fern. It's a cool name.
