Nah, it's not dated! I love this name. I see a spunky girl in her twenties with longish, curly brown hair and matching eyes, who loves being a chatterbox (but in a good way). I'm pretty sure, as a kid, I named one of my dolls Molly.

Every Molly I know is under 15. It's not dated.

I like it and I think of it as a classic, not overly dated. I have an aunt with this name. A very positive association for me. If I were to ever have two daughters (And I'd prefer to have just one or instead two sons but this is just hypothetical) I'd at least consider using this name to honor my aunt. 'Thea Gabrielle Molly' or Molly in another set.

I'm from Austria and it sounds a bit like the German word 'mollig' which means 'chubby'. Not that there is anything wrong with being chubby but I think no one would enjoy a name so close to a commonly used word with that meaning. Therefore I could never really warm up to it. It was always one of my least favorite names. I think it's simply too cute. It also feels a bit dated, I think its past its prime. Not that it will ever sound horribly dated, it wasn't common enough for that (except for maybe in Britain).

Weirdly enough I really love Holly. I feel that the name is much more elegant and mature. Weird how just one letter can change so much. I'm not a fan of Polly or Molly at all.

The good thing about Molly is that I associate it with Molly Weasley (Harry Potter) and she is great!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this as a nickname: so casual & so down to earth--and this very association grants immunity from the classification of "dated" - at least to me.

It's an okay name. The main thing that stands out to me about the sound is that it rhymes with 'jolly'.

I think it's cutesy but old-fashioned, and it's never been out of the US top 500, so it seems to me like it could fit any age.

It's cute and I don't think it's dated. It's just the drug that makes it a little weird but I don't even mind.

I actually love the name Molly! But honestly, it just seems like too it's too informal to be a full name. I like it as a nickname for Mary, or even Miriam. That would be sweet!

I really like it, it's very simple and nice sounding. I imagine a very kind and friendly person when I hear Molly.

The Mollies I knew were all three years younger than me, all WASPS, parents belonged to the PTA and drove a station wagon.

It is a saccharine sweet name to me.

I guess by the chart alone it's dated but it doesn't feel dated. Seems to me a Molly born today would fit right in with the Ellies and Annas and Lilys.
It's cute but it's a bit too cute. Like a lively fluffy puppy dog.

I love it, though not enough to use. It’s a name that makes me smile. It’s not too dated IMO.
