Bronte
What do you think of this name for a girl? Any certain likes or dislikes? I've started liking this of late and would love your opinions.

Hello! If I had heard "Bronte" just on the street or wherever, I would, most likely, have hated it. But I love it for Emily and Charlotte! (They're books were amazing, too!) So, yeah, I suppose I do like it. -Kate

I usually dislike surnames for first names especially for girls, but this one could work because of the Brontë sisters. That adds omething feminine to it. It's still NMS, but OK as far as surname names go because I like the Brontë sisters..

This is one of my guilty pleasures - especially when spelled Brontë. I pronounce it BRON-tee.Cute and I love it on other peoples' kids but probably wouldn't use it myself.

Its a guilty pleasure, that my husband laughs at *irked*! However, I like surnames & find them interesting on both genders.

While the associations are good, the name itself is just... I don't know. Ugly? Abrupt? Another family's surname and legacy that you'd really just be borrowing? If I ever knew one, I know I also wouldn't resist the urge to call her a Bronte-saurus.

I rather like Bronte but only for a girl. It just seems feminine to me because of the Bronte sisters (Charlotte, Emily & Anne) and I really enjoyed Jane Eyre so it has a good association for me.

I like this name, I recently discovered it. I think it works well on both sexes. Because of the Bronte sisters, it can be seen as a girls name, and it sound masculine too. I prefer it on a boy. I like to combine it with Dante :) (and for a girl I like Bente, in the same -te category)

I think Bronte is pretty, but I wouldn't use it as a fn... probably because it makes me think of the surname. But may that's just me? It'd make a great mn imo, though.

I don't care for it, especially on a girl. Despite the association with the Bronte sisters, the name seems very harsh and always makes me think of the word "brawny".Edit: Sorry, this should have been under the original post.
