Phoenix is technically my second favourite boys name, although I wouldn’t actually use him for reasons I won’t go into since they don’t affect this response. I adore the hope and optimism of the name, the magic and soft, gentle feel. Phoenix sounds intelligent and thoughtful, and I love that. I used to loath (and I mean really hate) Phoenix for a girl, but I can sort of see it now. It comes across differently to me though, more strong, fiery, and feisty. I still definitely prefer it for a boy.
