Marcy
Marcy is my mom's name and she and I have always kind of hated it. However, I've recently known three people who have had baby girls and named them Marcy! I don't know what's happening. I find it very strange. What do you think of the name Marcy and the sudden upsurge (at least in my life) of baby Marcys?

I associate this name with Marcy D'Arcy from "Married... with Children", which is not that great.

Three Marcys? I'd call that a rash.
I'm ambivalent. I do get the "mousy" image from it pretty strongly. But then, I can also imagine it being a lot like Margot - kind of tidy and youthful, not delicate but not bold, with a good possibility of being accomplished.

I'm pretty neutral on it...
I don't dislike the sound, but I don't love names derived from Mars either.
I've never met a Marcy, and I don't remember hearing of anyone in pop culture named Marcy, so it doesn't come across as dated to me.
Mercy, Darcy, Marcelline, Marcella, Marley, and Mary are the first names I thought of in connection with it. I can see why it'd be associated with Nancy and Macy like Gracie mentioned, too. I don't think it'd be weird to meet kids named any of those.
I also thought of Stacy, Tracy, Marsha, and Marlene in connection with it, which would seem weirder to me for a kid, but I had to reach for those.

I've only known two of them. One was a girl who was briefly in middle school with me. She was from Boston and so she pronounced her name Mah-see. The other was a friend's mother, who'd be in her seventies now. Her full name was Marcelia.
I don't like the name Marcy at all. It sounds mousy and pinched up and at the same time, it feels cheap. I don't understand why you've seen so many little Marcys lately.

I think it’s adorable and I’d use it in a heartbeat as a nickname for Marcella. I don’t have an explanation though really!
It's kind of cute. Much better than Marcia, although I usually hate nicknames as given names. I had a friend in high school who had a cousin named Marcy, who was a child back then, but I never met the cousin as they lived a couple hundred miles away. Other than that, I've never known a Marcy.
There is the Peanuts character, but that's not a bad association. Marcy has never been on my radar, but I wouldn't say I hate it.
