Still an old lady name to me.
If we pronounced it EVElyn, it would be pretty and I'd like it. But I don't think you could make people say that. Perhaps if you called a child Eve-Lynne? But I wouldn't bother.
It's somewhat popular where I live, among French-speakers. Pronounced Ev-LEEN.

I went to school with an EVElyn (female) and then there's Evelyn Waugh, also EVElyn. Those are the only two I've come across so I can't say for sure, but maybe it's the standard prn here, or was.

eta: I don't like evuhlin either.

It's almost always EVElyn here in South Africa; the only exception I know of was an EVElyn who was always known as Eve (that's normal!) but who was called EVuhlyn by her high school headmistress.

I like it better turned inside-out: Lyneve. Helps the pronunciation too!
