I've also never understood why Evelyn (EV-lin) and Eve (EEV) are pronounced so differently but EEV-lin doesn't sound right to the ear either!

EV-uh-lyn isn't interesting to me. I can see it as youthful again now, and that's nice, but the sound doesn't appeal to me personally. It reminds me of the word evolution. Has a mundane vibe, unsurprising. I would still appreciate it as a good name if I met a girl named it right now.

EVE-lyn is kinda interesting. I'm still lukewarm because of the generic feeling I get from the -lyn part, though.

I used to like Evelyn quite a bit, but it’s been so overused that I’m not that big of a fan of it anymore.

I absolutely love it, even with the rise in popularity. I think it’s gorgeous, but I dislike the nn Evie.

I really like it. I even GP-ish like it on a boy, possibly because of Evelyn Waugh.

I prefer Evelina / Eveline / Aveline / Évelyne.

The fact that it is related to my first name means I can't hate it, but I prefer the other spellings like Evelyne, Eveline, and Evelin. I also like Ewelina.

I know I'm not keeping with the times with this one, but it's eternally dumpy to me. I'm surprised it came back so soon.

If we pronounced it EVElyn, it would be pretty and I'd like it. But I don't think you could make people say that. Perhaps if you called a child Eve-Lynne? But I wouldn't bother.
It's somewhat popular where I live, among French-speakers. Pronounced Ev-LEEN.

I think it could get into the top ten, maybe, in the next year or two. I'm counting BAs (because what else would I be doing with them) and it's #4 right now.

I thought it was cool and interesting when I first heard it (I was in 7th grade and my math teacher said it was her daughter's name) but now it's just kind of meh. Nothing wrong with it but doesn't interest me. I'm over anything -lyn(n). Would rather see just Eve.

I’m not a huge fan, personally. It seems very bland to me. As a middle name, paired with the right first name, it can sound nice, but by itself it’s the name equivalent of a saltine cracker. I can see why it’s popular - it fits in well with other popular names - but personally I don’t see the appeal at all.

I had a great aunt named Evelyn (sister was Charlotte). The first time I heard it for a younger person was in The Mummy (1999), but I think that was set in the 20s, anyway; the character was called Evie, and I remember liking it then.

Now it just reminds me of the song/album "Evelyn Evelyn" which I've listened to way too much, and the Lyn part seems sort of tired.

I love it! It's definitely back in style

I think it's ugly, harsh-sounding despite its soft individual sounds. Among the currently trendy old-lady names, this one is one of the more inexplicable. Lillian I can totally understand even though I don't like it. Annabelle too. But Evelyn?
