Re: Garfield
in reply to a message by RDNZL
I watched a documentary on James A. Garfield. He was committed to continuing to help the former slaves in the South achieve full citizenship status, but of course, this never happened due to his assassination just a few months after being elected. He certainly seemed very admirable.Yes, he had an affair as a married man, but his wife forgave him.And when he was young, he was hot.

Is this him? Those eyes are piercing, even in a black and white photograph.Good to know he had some admirable goals regarding African Americans. Makes it a shame he was killed so soon after being elected.

Wow, I don't think I've seen a picture of him young before. I'd say the 5 most handsome US presidents were...
Zachary Taylor, Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, James Garfield, and Barack Obama.

Lincoln was certainly not considered attractive during his lifetime, but I think he had the sort of looks that appeal to a subset of women.Obama is extremely attractive. I once had a naughty dream about him.

Garfield did have piercing eyes as a young man, and Grant did have a certain broodiness. The others never stuck me as attractive. Ruthford B. Hayes had a nice face.

John Quincy Adam had nice eyes.
If you like bad boys, there is always Nixon...

Young Rutherford B. Hayes was hot, too...I think I posted a thread about handsome former presidents, but I can't quite remember.

Oops. I posted a picture of Hayes before I realized that you had already done so. Oh well, he has a face worth looking at twice.
