I like Charis; it’s pretty without being frilly.

I like it! Unlike Eileen, I don't think of it as Cheryl and Paris mashed up. It actually makes me think of cherries, which I love!

Its pretty. I prefer Ceres though. Its like you combined Cheryl and Paris though, which bothers me.

I used to like it, thinking it was pronounced KARE-is. Then I helped distribute yearbooks and found a book with Charis on it. Said "Kare-is" to the woman picking it up (we were distributing in the summer so a lot of people had parents pick up) and she said "No, CHAIR-is." I was immediately over it. Prefer the Welsh Cerys.

I like it but I don't find it very usable. I mean I would love to see it used but I wouldn't use it myself, it's just too complicated. I think the Greek pronunciation has the CH pronounced as an H but in English it would be pronounced as a K or a Sh or maybe as an actual Ch. It doesn't help that the last part could be interpreted as -ees or -iss. It would get misspelled and mispronounced all the time. Apart from that it looks trendy/made up even though it is a Greek classic, in the same way that Danae looks made up and trendy even thought it bears a lot of history. Maybe it is better suited as a middle name with a classic first name, something like Ava Charis or Eva Charis might work well.
