It's a great name for a horse or a dog or cat, but not for a person.
No, I don't like it.for me, it doesn't work in the Real World.Imagine a 3-year-old.."Destiny! do you need to pee?Go to the bathroom, dear!"
It is cute. It’s a pretty word but it gets a bad rap as a name, which is why I wouldn’t use it.
Another thing — destiny isn’t necessarily positive. One could have a destiny that is absolutely miserable. This name seems neutral to negative to me for that reason.
It feels slightly stripperish and reminds me of the song "You are my destiny "
I find it so absolutely hideous and inelegant that I almost feel guilty about it. It's so glaringly bad that it feels kind of cruel to point it out.
I really dislike it.
The sound is pleasant, but the actual translation of this word is too heavy with meaning.
I like it as a guilty pleasure. I think it’s pretty but I wouldn’t actually use it.
I think it's cute, too.
It’s a shame because it’s pretty, but it definitely doesn’t pass my “the Honourable Judge _________ presiding” vs. “Please welcome to the stage the luscious ________” test.
I kind of like it. I would never use it and it feels dated already but I do get a nice image from it. I see a little pioneer girl wearing a bonnet eating blueberry muffins. I know it wasn't used by the pioneers but it has that association anyway for some reason. I would put it in the same category as Hannah, Grace or Rebecca which is kind of weird but that's just where it goes for me personally. Faith for some reason I put in a completely different category even though it was actually used by the pioneers.
I think it's cute and tacky. I know one, she goes by Dessy.
I think it has a pretty sound. The problem for me is with the meaning. Not that it has a negative meaning, but it has a neutral one. One's destiny can be good or bad, but it needs context to know which it is. The word by itself is neutral. I don't see the point in a word name unless the meaning is positive. I like Liberty, for instance, and almost all other word names have a positive meaning. So it just smacks of "Oh it sounds purty" with no further thought.
So OK, a lot of feminine names are given just because the parents think they sound pretty, but when in addition to that the name is a common English word with a well-known meaning, then I think that the word should have a positive meaning.

I've never liked it. It sounds clumsy on the tongue, and it gives off a very low-rent, tacky vibe. My daughter's best friend is named Destiney, which I think is just making matters worse; but I do like her a lot personally, and her parents.
