Grant
Hi !!!WDYTO this name?Do you think it is only a surname?
Do you think too much about the word? (The verb and the financial award)Or simply you can see only a genuine English/Scottish given name?I like Grant for the sound, its strong vibe so I ask your opinion about it...

It's so ugly! Sounds like grunt....one of my least favourite names

Grant is definitely not only a surname. I have known several, even before that trend got big. Neither do I think about the word at all. I don't get a strong vobe though, actually a preppy, but goofy vibe.

I don’t like Grant, it’s dated and makes me think of the word grunt.

I just see it as a given name. I have never thought about it any other way. I love it! Very handsome and not very common.

I love Grant as a first name. No, I don't think of it as only a surname. There was a Grant in my class in elementary and middle school, so I'm familiar with it as a first name going way back. It's not a problem to me that it's also a word. After all, my son is called Will, lol. I like its sound and strong vibe, also.

I think it's handsome. I don't think the fact that it's also a word would cause any confusion as it's a common enough name. However I would never use it because the word thing does slightly annoy me and because one syllable names in general just don't satisfy my desire to call out a name, it's just over too soon. Haha. I know 2 people with son's names Grant and both times it was announced I was happy that they chose a handsome, strong name.

Hey there, Rossana! (do you mind if I call you that? On another message board I used to go on, we'd call each other by name, so I'm used to it)Anyway, I don't like Grant as a first name at all. It makes me think of a nervous, pimply teenager with red hair and a lanky build. I kinda like it as a middle name, though--I'm a sucker for one-word middles. lol
