Serenity
What are your thoughts about the name, Serenity? Just wondering. Honesty wanted (:

It's really pretty. Reminds me of Sailor Moon. I like it more as a middle name in combos though.

I love it in a guilty pleasure way. I think it's pretty but the adult diaper connection kind of kills it for me.

I don't like it. It's not as bad as Felicity, but has some of the same problems. Sounding like a cutesy chant. Being a noun not for a virtue, but a sort of prissy state-of-mind goal. It has an inherent irony. Serenity connotes continence, sphincter control. So its use as a name for adult diapers (or spaceships) seems more appropriate to me than its use as a name for a person. It's better than Felicity, because it has all fashionable sounds and decent nicknames. It would not bother me to call someone Serenity in real life. But I don't see why someone would prefer Serenity over Serena, which evokes the idea "serene" in a way that's not so hokey, and also sounds like a person's name.

I don't mind it at all, but I don't like it enough to use it.

I think it's lovely, but it seems like more of a wink and nod to Firefly fans than anything. If you do use it, just don't name any siblings Andromeda or Enterprise.

Are you referring to the short lived SciFi show staring Nathan Fillion I think his name is? Heard about it but never seen it. I don't see myself actually using Serenity. I definitely wouldn't use Andromeda. Not a fan.

It may have been short-lived, but it has a HUGE and very devoted fanbase. If you use it, be prepared for lots of people to ask you if you're a fan for a very long time.In a rather large segment of the population, it's almost like naming your kid "Millennium Falcon".If you name your kid Hermione, you're going to be asked if you like Harry Potter. If you name your kid Serenity, you're going to be asked if you like Firefly.

I love Serenity! I like lots of virtue names, but Serenity is by far my favourite 5/5 stars!

I've never understood the appeal of it. First of all, it's a brand of sanitary product and I believe it was what I was using when I first started hearing of it as a name. So to me it was as bad as naming somebody Tampax or Stay-Free.Second of all, it just sounds gross, like a nursing home or a funeral parlor. Locally there used to be a day spa called Serenity, and a chocolate shop called Sweet Serenity, so it also sounded like a place to go to get a facial or to binge on candy.

Sickly sweet with a strong potential for irony, strongly dislike it. Seren and Serena are both superior choices.

The sound of it is actually nice, but whenever I hear or see it, all I can think of is a mother with a low patience level and an unruly child, yelling, "Serenity! You're driving me crazy!"

Ditto.
