Dorothy
Opinions on Dorothy nickname Dottie for a new baby girl.Legitimately considering this since I found out we are having a girl :-)Siblings are Locklan, Stephanie, Vincent and Owen.It as my hubby's beloved Nan's name she passed away a month or so before I met him so I never got to meet her but I know she was super loved. Her name was Dorothy Irene which I don't like.Middle name possibilities Dorothy Eloise/Elise
Dorothy MayAny other suggestions?Surname is Smith. I generally like normal (not unique), unpopular names that are easy to spell and pronounce. I see it has trended slightly upward in the U.S the last few years. My sons cousin on his dads side is Edith and my niece is named Ida so it really fits in with a lot of kids these days the older names.

i like it, but though i'm into more typically old fashioned names, i'm not a fan of the nickname Dottie. it feels a little awkward to say? Dori/Dory is a nice nickname imo, it's cute and feels more natural. i like Dorothy Irene a lot (Irene is one of my favs), but Dorothy Elise and Dorothy May are really nice. Eloise is a little too much syllables/too rhymey, but not bad at all.

I'm sorry for my blunt honestly but Dorothy to me is a dated and unattractive name. A name best left on a grandmother.
Also, I completely feel that it doesn't go with your other kids' names. Dorothy, compared to the rest of the names, sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Perhaps use it as a middle name?Eloise & Ida are lovely BTW

It does look like Dorothy is coming back.I try to stay with the times, and not be one of those older people who still thinks that names that have come back into style are "old lady" and "old man". Most of the time, I can open my mind up enough to re-evaluate these names. But Dorothy is one that I've tried, but I just can't stop seeing it as middle-aged dowdy.I think Dorrie is a much cuter nickname for it than Dottie.

I adore Dorothy! I think Dorothy Elise, nn Dot or Dottie is adorable!

My best friend just had her baby boy and they didn't find out what they were having. Her bub would have been Dorothy "Dottie" or "Dot" if he was a girl.I like it a lot and Dot and Dottie definitely liven it up.Her Dottie/Dot would have been a sister to Lincoln if it helps- that's a more current name like some of your kids and I thought that Linc and Dot sounded great as siblings
