Shirl
What do you think of the feminine name Shirl (shurl), probably a pet form of Shirley, like in the movie Soylent Green?
It's not one of my favs, but I've been thinking about it a lot recently... Tell me?

Shirley has never been a favorite of mine and Shirl I like even less because it sounds incomplete. And now that you mention Soylent Green I like it even less.
"It's people I tell you! Soylent Green is people!"
Gee, hope I didn't ruin the movie for anyone.

It sort of looks like shrill. That was my first thought.
Then I got into pronounciation.
Would it be shir-UL or SHIR-l..uh?
I don't care for it much.

I love the name Shirley. I think it is cute for females of all ages. I really don't like Shirl as a nn though. I don't think that Shirley needs a nn and I think that Shirl just kind of takes the charm out of it. Shirl sounds like someone trying to say Cheryl with a southern accent. (To me anyway....)
I don't like Shirley at all, and this just sounds incomplete
