Asa
What are your opinions on the name Asa? How would you pronounce it? Do you see it as masculine or feminine? Would it be a good choice or is it bound to get mixed up with the Avas/Evas/Adas? Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated!

I love Asa! It's one of my top favorites.
I pronounce it, well, the way it's pronounced (as given in the entry on this site) and I see it completely masculine. As such I don't even associate it with Ava & co. so I don't think that should be a problem.

It is a biblical name that we love.It a masculine name.It has never been mixed up with Avas,Evas ect. One of my son doctor is Jewish and she pronounce it in Jewish. It is not common where we live. My son loves his name .People tend to remember him because of his name and they like it because it a name not heard of often.

I don't like male names that end in -a, and Asa is definitely male! I wouldn't use it, and I'd expect anyone who did to be extremely religious - or to have no religious knowledge at all. I pronounce it AYsa, AY to rhyme with hay and stay. But I'd be concerned that people might guess wrong and say ARSa ...

I think Asa is a great name for a boy. I pronounce it Ayy-suh. I know an Asa in his twenties and he is a great guy.I don't see why it would be confused with Ava/Eva/Ada when used for a boy.

I see it as solely masculine but thats because I know the history of the name. I think non-namenerds or non-Christians might confuse it as being female. I say Ayy-suh, but I realize other dialects pronounce it Ahh-suh as well.

I love Asa! I pronounce it ah-suh, but I've also heard it pronounced ai-suh, which is cute too. I like it on either a male or female, but I think it's more commonly known on a male. If you use it for a boy, I doubt it'll get mixed up, as there's a very low chance that people will be going around introducing their sons as Ava or something of the likes, but for a girl, I think it's more prone to be confused with.

To me Asa is masculine, as in the Biblical name. I've known two Asas, both boys, but I understand it can be feminine in Scandinavian countries. I think it's a lovely name for anyone. We had an Asa at my preschool recently, and there was no issue of confusion with his name other than some mispronunciation. It suited the boy beautifully... he's a gentle, loving, quiet, strong boy.The main character of the young adult book "What Hearts" is called Asa. I loved this book and character as a kid, and it gave me a love for the name.
