It's my niece's name.
I was so happy when my brother and his wife announced her name (Maureen Elizabeth). My sister in law said whe wanted to name her after the most beautiful woman she could think of: Maureen O'Hara.
When she was little I called her Momo, which she hated. She now goes by Mo, but told me in confidence she wants to go by Maureen when she leaves for college. I feel bad starting the Mo thing. I like Mo, but Maureen is lovely. I'm glad she likes it too.
It's an underappreciated classic that deserves a second look.

Definitely an old-lady name, but that's what would make it so great on a young'un :-)
I'd be charmed by a young Maureen- it's a name that suits a myriad of personalities, too.

I would not use it for one of my own, but I like it specifically because I always think of Maureen O'Hara, who always reminds me of John Wayne, whom I love! So in a roundabout way I like it, but wouldn't use it. At least not as a fn.

A character from RENT that I'm not particularly fond of . . . other than that it's a classic name with a slightly unattractive (to my ears) sound in the beginning -- mawr.
I don't care for it. It's very popular for women in their 50s-70s where I live, so it'd seem out of place on a child now.

I'm quite fond of it. It's my grandmother's name as well as my sister's middle name, so it has special significance to me.
