Alessandra
I used to dislike Alessandra but it has been growing on me. What do you think of Alessandra?

It's slightly difficult for me to say it right. It always comes out Al-essahndra instead of Ahl-. I knew an Alessandra who would get called Ale, and that would remind me. But that was kind of hard for me to say too. So I prefer Alexandra among English speakers. But Alessandra is prettier.
It's becoming really popular where I live so I think about it kind of often. When you're used to Alexandra, it almost seems like a lazy version of saying it! ...Until I realized the stressed syllable is pronounced differently - it's al-is-AHN-dra, as opposed to al-ex-ANNE-dra. It's funny how that's not a natural intuition for me as I'm sure it is for those more familiar with Latin languages.
Anyway, realizing that my very Anglo pronunciation was what was making me like it less, I do enjoy Alessandra. She could even be called Ales(s) (Alice) for short, aww.
