Amaryllis
I can't decide if I love it or hate it. WDYT?

It bugs me for containing Mary but not sounding remotely like Mary! I'm not a fan of Lily, but Amaryllis is even worse.Come to think of it, I don't like Amy either, and I suppose that would be a likely nn. Amy, or maybe Millie.

I love this name. If used for a girl - she might use Ahma, Mary or Ellis; or a boy might even use Ellis or whatever other short name.

I'm the same way! One second I think it's cute, the next I'm like no!

Love it.

It's too many syllables for my taste. I like the meaning, the image, the sounds in it, and the way it looks, though! Not a favorite, but doesn't bug me.

I love it in theory, I find it a bit much in practice.

I adore it! It's a gorgeous name!

Adore!I adore Amaryllis for so many reasons: its meaning (from the Ancient Greek for "to sparkle"), its classical literary association (the name of a shepherdess in Virgil's Eclogues), its botanical association, its clunky whimsicality. It's brimming with character!

I love this name as well - yet also your rationale--further, the excitement you convey while sharing it.

"Ama" seems warm and friendly, but the "ryl" part seems shrill. I want to like it sometimes, but it just comes across as forced to me.

Hate it. I like some fairly extravagant floral names, but this one crosses over into comedy

Love it. No question. A delightful name with oodles of personality. Super common nicknames like Amy or Mary built right in, but also rarer ones like Missy, Amara, Ryll, Lissy, Mara, etc.
