Re: Adina.

It doesn't appeal to me. It sounds like a made up name, a combination of popular sounds. I know it isn't but it feels like a newly invented made up name to me. There are too many names that sound similar to it, Adina just doesn't stick out in any way. It's a name I would easily forget. Alina is really common here so they would always get mixed up. I have also met several girls named Anita, Anina, Annina and Dina. Not to mention several girls named Tina, Gina, Nina, Lena, Lina and Ina. But most of them have more personality to me than Adina.
Because of the A that has been tacked on it sounds less distinctive than any of the -ina names and like a hybrid of common sounds. It's kind of like naming a girl Amelie or Emery these days, the names themselves might not be so common but they sound like a combination of Emily and Avery or Emma and Avery and are close to other common names in rhythym and sound such as Amelia.
So as you can see, I am not a fan of Adina. But it isn't horrible or anything so if you like it go for it! I love love love Miriam, by the way. Beautiful name! And very distinctive in sound. I love it.
