In WA where I grew up the only people I know who call their grandfather or father
Poppy are Hispanic people and they spell it Papi but pronounce it similar to
Poppy.
Maybe it depends on what part of the country you live in or what generation you are a part of but
Poppy isn't a common term for grandfather or father to me.
