I like Maribel better. Maribelle just looks too over the top.

Maribel is the name of a friend's daughter who is six. It suits her so well and I think its lovely and will also be lovely on her when she's a grown woman. Maribelle seems over fancified to me

I do prefer Maribel - less is definitely more - but more than either I like Mirabel.

I prefer Mirabelle (my cat's name!)

I think it's quite pretty. I prefer Maribelle over Maribel. It just seems softer and more feminine, which is the type of name I like. I adore most Mari- names. I'm really into Marilou right now.

My cousin named her daughter Maribelle Ruth. I'm not a fan, personally. It just sounds contrived to me, as does Annabelle and Maybelle. Though, for some reason, I don't feel that way about Isabelle or Clarabelle, even though Clarabelle definitely was invented for a character.

I like it because it's a southern name.
