Where I live,
Charlene is more frequent than
Charlotte and I also prefer it. A lot. I was at school with a very nice
Charlene whom we (at an all-girls school) used to call
Charles. She didn't mind, but now that she's grown up she's settled on
Charlie. Which is fine too.
My ranking would be, first
Charlene, then
Carlotta for someone in the appropriate language environment; then a huge gap, and then
Charlotte.
Charlotta doesn't even finish.
