Hi !!!!
This article is wonderful!!!!!
It is very clear and with a lot of examples!!!
I love a lot of them because of their meaning!!!
- Yetunde or
Yewande (mother has come back) is a Yoruba name given to a girl whose grandmother or other female relative died before she was born.
-
Adetokunbo (crown/wealth has come back home) is a unisex Yoruba name often given to a child born abroad
-
Lindiwe (we have waited) is an isiZulu name often given to a baby girl after a long line of boys.
- Yananiso means bringing the family together
- Kissmore
- Brilliant
- Nomatter
- Lul (diamond)
- Macanay (sweet)
- Dahable (golden)
- Indho Daraleey (gazelle eyes).
I also love that in some cultures there is a name category for TWINS!!! It is wonderful! (I'm a twin so I'm very happy to find this news!).
But some of them are cruel imo:
- Kimaiyo and Jemaiyo are names sometimes given to baby boys and girls whose births coincide with men drinking locally brewed beer (Maiywek) among the Kalenjins.
- Nhamo means misfortune
- "..To show that the child was somehow a mistake, they decided to name her Melevevio, which translates as "not necessary".
Finaly many of that names are related to the day, the night and the birthdate so it is very very interesting!!!!
Thank you Anneza!!!!
