August or Gustav?
What is your preference of these inversions? I know they're not etymologically actual inversions, but to me they are cohesive like that. In Russian the month is pronounced ahv-gust (so that is why I consider them inversions).

I prefer August (it's a favorite of mine), but Gustav is pretty badass.
Gustav all the way.
Agree :)
August
It's my top boys' name at the moment =)

Gustav
It is very nice Slavic-Germanic name meaning "he is welcoming guests".

August all the way. One of my favourite names, I think it comes across as both boyish, cute, and playful, but also strong and handsome. I first came across August as a name on a really awesome character in a book, and I've loved it ever since. I was nicely surprised to see that it's not popular where I live, below the top 1000, which always makes me happy, I do think it'll rise though. Gustavo doesn't sound appealing when I say, I don't do it must justice, it just sounds serious, heavy, and I actually dislike Gus immensely, (I think the reason I don't mind the sound in August because it's not stressed) and it's quite prominent in Gustav.

Gustav!
August is growing stale. I prefer Gustave to Gustav, though.

..but I like Augustus better than August (not your question I know!)
August.
Both are common where I live, but I've never really been a fan of Gustav and I really dislike "Gurra" which is a common nickname here. I do prefer Gustav over Gustaf though.
August is one of my favorites and one I'd consider for a son.
