Yeah, my friend Beth who did the shoplifting was kind of rough and tough so it has that image for me too. Although her full name was Elizabeth and Beth was a nickname.

My parents thought about naming me Elizabeth and calling me Beth. I really don't care for Beth, so I'm glad they didn't. When my sister tried to change her nickname it didn't stick, so I don't think that a nickname change would have worked for me either.
