Beth
Just, Beth. What do you think? I keep picturing a tough girl when I hear this name, even though it's soft and almost angelic. Maybe I'm weird. "And by the way, dearie, your punctuation sucks canal water!"

Only Beth I've known was a whiney brat, often called Bethy! I've never met a Beth that was short for Bethany, though I've heard of it happening - one reason why I prefer Betsan to Bethan (I don't go for Bethany at all).I'd use Elizabeth and let the nn take care of itself. Beth as a name in its own right would elicit the same question eleven times a day for all eternity.

I would proffer the soft, angelic connotation. I guess I've always liked it.

I've always thought Beth was quite a nice name. I don't picture a tough girl though! I picture a sweet yet spunky little girl with curly brown hair!

Yeah, my friend Beth who did the shoplifting was kind of rough and tough so it has that image for me too. Although her full name was Elizabeth and Beth was a nickname. My parents thought about naming me Elizabeth and calling me Beth. I really don't care for Beth, so I'm glad they didn't. When my sister tried to change her nickname it didn't stick, so I don't think that a nickname change would have worked for me either.

I like the name. I prefer Elizabeth or Bethany but Beth is not a bad runner-up. Thanks to the Kiss song I always picture a pretty blond sitting at home waiting for her man to come home.

I like it better than Elizabeth but not nearly as much as Bethany. I think it's soft and kind of meek but not weak.
I once shared an apartment with a Beth. Beth was her given name, not short for anything. She wasn't tough and she wasn't meek, she was nice enough but I would say she had very little personality. She was always congested and sniffling with allergies, and Phillip used to call her Sinus Beth.
