Wren

I don't like Wren as a given name. It seems overly delicate and won't age that well; it's one of those names that fits a little girl but not an adult woman. When paired with Eleanor it gains some strength from Eleanor, but because middle names aren't used in society (Albert Brandon Taxpayer is referred to as Albert, not Albert Brandon), nobody would know it was there.
Overall, not a fan; it seems like one of those BTN favourites that I just can't get behind.
Eleanor, on the other hand, is a gorgeous classic name; too bad it's back in the US top 100.

It seems like it's everywhere and I think people could do better, but it's alright. I just wish that I thought people were attracted to it because they were really smitten with the bird, or something like that, and not because it's really a thing now. It would be more endearing if it seemed more personal, I think.
Eleanor is so pretty, it could go with anything. :-) The combo works well even if I don't love Wren.

It's a nice name and all, but it really isn't my style. It's too soft and it doesn't make much of an impact; if I heard it IRL, I wouldn't bat an eye. It's nice . :P
Sometimes I search names I like on Facebook to see how commonly they are used and where in the world people use them. I searched for Wren earlier and it turns out I do kind of know one! I had a few classes with her in undergrad and we have some mutual friends, I just never knew her name was Wren lol. It was charming to see on someone I would've expected to be named Megan or Carly or whatevs. :)
I totally get that! I find I'm especially less impressed about baby name announcements for sure.
I really like it! Bird names are neat :^) Wren Eleanor is gorgeous!
I love Wren for either gender. Your combo floats the boat.
Certain folios of Shakespeare's Pericles substitute "p'r'etty" for "petty"; yet Dionyza, the Character that decries the deed--no deed at all, this is figurative language, which the wrens descry is a villain or villainess - and attempts to belittle them while she cajoles her husband. The songbirds, despite her description, are noble.
"Be one of those that thinks
The pretty wrens of Tharsus will fly hence,
And open this to Pericles. I do shame
To think of what a noble strain you are,
And of how coward a spirit."

I hate it. Because when you take away the silent W, which does admittedly help it when seen written, and the bird (not that it's a pretty bird but still I guess it has some appeal), it just sounds like REN. Yuck.
