Name Sighting + Twins
My barista at Starbucks today was named Energee. I think Energy makes a pretty cool GP name. The more I think about it, the more I like it.Here are the names of some matchy-matchy twinsets at a local high school. Jehovany and Geovany
Christy and Misty
Jkalyn and Jkiya
Izaih and Izaac
Tamera and Tamarrick
Zackariah and Zykeriah
Kyla and Kayla
Jeremias and JeremiahHow do people with twins with more-or-less the same name tell them apart? Like, I can't see how Jehovany and Geovany are even pronounced vaguely differently.

I suppose they use nns exclusively, unless they're in the kind of disaster zone that demands all the given names plus ln, at top volume, followed by instructions and a threat!Jay and Gee might work for the first two, or Sky and Earth? Zack and Zyke are easy, but the Jeremias/Jeremiah combo is unforgivable. So too Jkalyn (can that be Jacqueline?) and jerky Jkiya. What is it about twins that deprives new parents of their ability to spell?

They're all pretty awful, imo. I trip over my girls' names and they're nothing alike. I can't imagine dealing with similar names. I've known a Donald and Ronald, a Lenny and Lexy and a Bernadette and Bernadine / Bernardine. Way too matchy for my tastes.

I have several sets of twins in my family and most have similar names. People DO get them mixed up, frequently. For some reason, a lot people seem to think that twins have to have similar names, like looking alike isn't enough. Too similar in my family
Casey & Lacey
Sena & Rena
Ronnie & DonnieNot so similar in my family
Dorothy & Rosie
Thomas & Samuel
Clarence & Franklin
Connor & Blake

It's a twin thing. I'm guessing one is Juh-ho-Vahnee and the other is Gee-oh-Vahnee

Those matchy-matchy twin names are pretty bad. I know identical 3 year old twin boys named Kaylan and Kailan and their parents bought them silver bracelets with their names on so they could tell them apart.

Dang! Are Kaylan and Kailan pronounced the same? I don't see how they could be pronounced differently. It's basically giving two children the same name and reminds me of twins in our local hospital's NICU. Their names were Vickie and Victoria. SMH.

Kaylan is KAY-lan and Kailan is KYE-lan, so slighty different, but still too similar for me!

Exactly!

My cousin did that when his twins were babies. It's actually a really good idea for identicals when they are young. I'm sure lots of sets have been mixed up.
