Angelique, Monique, Dominique...
Are these names any good?

I don't like -ique names most of the time, because the end is squeaky.
Angelique is neat in the way Roxstar mentioned with it having angel in it and yet somehow being cold, rather than the sweetness people usually channel through those.
Monique is okay, I far prefer Monica, and the only upside is Mo as a nickname. I have known a couple of really cool Moniques.
Dominique is one I actually like better on a boy. I think it has more pizzazz that way. I think because we had a super popular, super nice guy at my high school named it. He played jazz and blues on the trumpet. For a girl I'm rather partial to Domenica

I like Angelique and love the unlisted -ique Veronique.
I don't especially love Monique but I generally think it's fine. I have know at times three woman my age (around 30) named Monique, which by the third time just sounded like a regular old name to me.
They all used to strike me as kind of cheesy and as if one was desperately trying to sound French and sophisticated, but my opinion has mellowed considerably.

I somewhat know a Monique who, as a child, was known as Neekie. And Dominique is unisex as well as being incomfortably similar to dominatrix.
That leaves Angelique, which actually isn't too bad. Sounds silly with an undistinguished English ln - Angelique Evans, Angelique Wilkinson, Angelique Scott. Not quite as good as Angela but better than Angelina!

Together they sound kind of trashy and outdated, but I like them separately. Of the three, I think my favorite is probably Angelique.
I like Monique a lot, but that might just be because I grew up with several. It's got a sporty vibe to me.
Angelique sounds like a brand of cheap perfume imo.
Dominique seems the most sophisticated; it also reminds me of words/phrases like dominatrix, dominoes, in nomini patris, and dominus vobiscum (an odd mix of associations), but I like it, overall.

I quite like the ending -ique though not as much as I feel I should.
Angelique: It's a very distant second to Angelina, the only angel name I can say I actually like. It has a coldness to it that Angelina doesn't.
Monique: The cheapest of the ique names here. It just sounds trashy.
Dominique: The most elegant of this group. It's sexy but in a very sleek, poised kind of way. Monique flashes her underpants (or lack thereof) Dominique just makes people wish she would, but she won't in public.

I like these descriptions. :)
Yeah, I totally wish Dominique would flash her underpants at me in public. :-P
