Re: Woods

IMO, some surnames or word names just don't sound as right as other names. Woods is on that list for me although I have to say that since hearing the name my dd's teacher gave her son, Blanks, Woods does sound more appropriate. Even as the mom's maiden name, Blanks is still so awkward as a fn.
Back to Woods, most of us are used to hearing Woody (usually as a nn for a surname containing Wood), but the point is that we've all heard it before so Woods isn't too out there.
Of your combos, I like the long mns best paired with Woods:
Woods Frederick
Woods Oliver
Woods Theodore
Woods Nathaniel
Woods Alexander
Woods Julian
Woods Timothy
I'd personally avoid mns that are sibilant when paired with Woods.

Blanks would be so awkward as a name. Yikes.
I will say, the idea of Woods as a name just occurred to me yesterday morning. It's still a GP. I had that in my original post but removed it. I probably shouldn't have!
Thanks!
