Can Edmund be nicknamed Teddy?
DH seems pretty set on calling another boy Teddy, and while I like Theodore I am absolutely in love with Edmund. If Teddy is a traditional nickname for Edward, it will work just as well for Edmund, right? We already have boys called Logan and Michael, who is only known by his less common nickname for Michael, Mick. Thanks!

By all means - this is not so distant a variation. Many guys named Edward also use Ned as an nick-name.

Sure, Teddy can be a nn for Edmund. Edmund is so handsome, a great choice.

I think Edmund "Teddy" would be really cute! Go for it =)

Of course, why not? I knew a Ted who was an Edwin.

I didn't know the Teddy connection, but that is cool. I think it will work for you, especially since you use Mick for Michael (which I love). I kinda wish I had known about the Teddy thing for Ed-names, because my brother is an Edward and I adore Edgar... but dislike Ned and Ed as nicknames. Love my brother obviously, but Ed is unappealing to me. I would have gotten behind a Ted or Teddy. No idea why I never thought of it!

Edmund nn Teddy seems like a perfect nickname! I love it. Also, Mick for Michael? That is fantastic.

Aw. Mick was my grandfather's nickname (for Michael, of course). It's so good to hear it's being used again. And sure, why ever not use Teddy as a nickname for Edmund? I don't require logic in coming up with nicknames. Edmund (so handsome, btw), nn Doodlebug, makes sense to me. Or, Bernard, nn Teddy (Bernard = bear, teddy bear -- get it?) So Edward / Edmund / Edwin / Edgar, nn Ted / Teddy, is A-OK by me. :0)

I had no idea until this moment that Teddy could be a nickname for Edward. I always thought of it as Theodore only. And, I've been a name nerd for 18 years. I think the average person will not get the connection at all. However, I LOVE Edmund, and Ned, and even Eddie. I love Edward, too. Theodore is also great.Do you like the nickname Teddy? Theodore? Just curious.

I do like both. I actually suggested Theodore during our last pregnancy and DH latched on to the idea of a Teddy. I think it's adorable for a young boy. Since Teddy became the favorite, I started to search for a name I might like better than Theodore to get to it. I love love love Edmund! I would even be happy with Eddie, but DH is certain that Teddy it is.

I think it absolutely can. I love Edmund!

People might not "get it" (people don't get Ned as a nickname for Ed- names either), but yes, since Teddy is a nickname for Edward, it can work for any Ed- name.
