I like Skye more as a boy's name. I also think of it more as a place name than a nature name...which might make it less hippy-ish, but still a bit trendy? It could pair well with lots of 'classic yet quirky' names, though...the first thing that comes to mind is Skye & Violet...I've only heard of Farah because of Farah Fawcett, so I would say it's not a big deal for non-Arabs to use the name. I'm not fond of the way it sounds, but it has a sweet meaning.
