I like Helena a lot (much better than Helen). I've only known one Helena who pronounced it heh-LAY-nuh although I like HEH-len-nuh as well. Unless I know ahead of time, I would assume the pronunciation would have the stress on the LAY sound.

I absolutely love this name! Not just for My Chemical Romance, but I think it's such a beautiful name with great meaning to me.

Personally I pronounce it Hel-en-a.

I like it, but it's a bit too common here. In Sweden it sounds like he-LAY-na, but in English I pronounce it HEL-e-na.

I like it quite a lot. My husband has a great aunt Helena...pronounced Heh-lay-na.

I pronounce it Heh-LEEN-ah. That easily may be wrong;however, I've only known one Helena, and that's how she and her family said it.

I have the impulse to add "aunt" in front of the name, as the woman I knew was aunt to neighbourhood friends,two sisters.

It's a decent name; not too common but familiar & easy to spell. I thought about using it for a while, as my great-great-grandmother was a Helena. Both she and my cousin who was named after her went by Nell. I pronounce it helen-uh, and haven't heard any other pronunciations in the UK.

I love it. I think it's classy and strong and feminine.

I love Hel- names, so Helena is a winner in my books. I say it "Helen-uh", unless told otherwise.

I pronounce it HEL-en-a. The ambiguous pronunciation thing keeps me from liking it as much as I otherwise would.

HEL-en-a is how I normally pronounce unless someone named this asks me to pronounce it differently. I've also heard heh-LEE-na.

I pronounce it heh-LAY-nah. Well, not exactly like that, but it's close. The HEL-en-a pronounciation makes no sense to me, and I find it ugly as well.
I don't know about Helena, I've always felt I should like it but somehow I don't. It has a nice look and sound, but it doesn't do it for me.

I personally say he-LAY-nuh, but the only Helena I've known pronounced it he-LEE-nuh and I think the place is called Helen-uh.
