Amelia! Gorgeous name!
I prefer Alexandra. My friend is a medical student and she told me that amelia is a condition where people have no limbs, which put me off the name!

Edit: Found this on Google:
Amelia is the complete absence of the skeletal parts of the upper or lower limbs with no bony structure distal to the defect. Total amelia affects all four limbs1. This unfortunate malformation generally is a random event, but is occasionally seen in specific syndromes associated with other congenital anomalies1,2. This case report describes an early second trimester diagnosis of near total amelia in conjunction with other anomalies. Also presented are the obstetrical management and findings at autopsy.

The truth is, I have met the right person, only he's not in love with me, and until I stop loving him no-one else stands a chance

LMAO, I've never heard that before. Sure enough, I found it in my medical dictionary!
Amelia
I love both names in their full form, but Amelia seems more usable to me than Alexandra which seems overly formal to me for use on a day to day basis. As far as nns go, I love both Amy and Mimi a lot. But Alex, Allie, Lexie... none of those appeal to me at all. So based on that, I would choose Amelia.

I think Amelia is lovely, independent of comparisons between other names. I also think Alexandra is horrible; none of the "Alex-" names are pleasant to me at all. There's some sound in them that I think is just ugly.

I prefer Amelia. I like old-fashioned names and Alexandra, though regal and not modern, just seems 'newer' to me. Also, there are too many nn options for Alexandra, imo, and I'm not terribly crazy about any of them (Alex, Allie, Alexa, Lexi, etc.). Amelia can go by no nn at all, or by Millie, Amy, Lia or Mia, which are all nice, I think. :b

Oooh this is a tough one because I like them both. I suppose Alexandra edges Amelia by just a little. For some reason, I tend to like A names. For example, I also like Ava, Adrienne, Andrea / Andra, Adeline, Abigail, Alicia, Annabelle, and Aubrey / Audrey.

I like both but prefer Alexandra. It's a very classy name imo
